Junior Cubs Step Up

A huge shoutout to Ashton, Brayden, Finn and Jackson for stepping up and helping out our Reggie's side on the weekend against Mudgeeraba. Brayden is one of our U20's players, while Ashton, Finn and Jackson are all part of our U18's squad. Well done lads.

Bears enforcer Jeff Lynch has announced his retirement from Rugby League. 🏉

Speaking with Lynchy earlier today, he had this to say.

“A massive thank you to the Burleigh Bears club and family, to Jimmy and Drisco for initially taking a chance on me in 2016 and for helping me become the best version of myself not only on the football paddock but off the field as well.

Thanks to every single member of the Bears family, coaches, support staff, our fans, players I’ve played with and my close friends and family. I’m forever in debt for what this club has provided me and I will never forget some of the memories and friendships built here.

Bear #307 over and out.” 🐻

“Lynchy has been an integral part of the Bears playing squad since 2016. Lynchy should be very proud of his accomplishments over this time, being a huge part of the Bears success over the past 8 years, including the 2016 & 2019 Premiership Winning Teams.

Along with this success on the field, his influence off the field shouldn’t be underestimated. His efforts in shaping and fostering a positive culture within the Bears have been instrumental. Congrats on an outstanding career Lynchpin!”

Bears extend Burt for 3 years.

The UAA Burleigh Bears have put its faith in Luke Burt long term, extending the head coach’s contract until the end of the 2026 season.

After first joining the club as an assistant, Burt took over as Hostplus Cup head coach at the start of the 2023 season, and lead the Bears to a Minor Premiership, a Grand Final, Club Championship and 17 wins in his first year at the helm.

“Luke had a great first year with the club, and we're excited with the direction Luke is taking the Club. The extension to Lukes contract brings stability allowing Luke to focus on the development of players at the Bears.” Burleigh Bears CEO Damian Driscoll said.

For Burt, the head coach says extending his contract wasn’t a difficult decision at all.

“I’m privileged to be head coach of such a great Club heading into their 100th year. I’m also in awe of our players, they work five days a week and train three nights with us and we ask a lot from them, they are here for the love of it and it’s an honour to coach a group like that.” Burt said.
